The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has organized a committee to probe abnormalities on the country’s advanced weather satellite, INSAT 3D, following its launch on July 26.

ISRO officials were anxious as the spacecraft was undetectable for some time. INSAT 3D was finally tracked by the space agency’s Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan in Karnataka. It’s not clear if the primary system had suffered damage or if it had implications in relation to the intended life of the spacecraft.

According to ISRO, INSAT 3D is now moving towards its final geostationary orbital location of 82 degrees east longitude and should reach this destination on August 6. Subsequently, two meteorological payloads, as well as two transponders would be activated by August 8.
