XTAR Plans Expansion Beyond the U.S. and Europe as African and Asian Hot Spots Drive Change
Herndon, VA, February 6, 2013 – Commercial X-band operator XTAR LLC announced plans to grow its business and expand its reach into international markets, specifically beyond Western Europe. XTAR has retained Mercury Swift Solutions Limited of the United Kingdom as an Authorized XTAR Representative. Mercury Swift Solutions will reinforce XTAR’s expanding business serving Allied military forces worldwide, particularly in Africa and Asia where the company sees the fastest growing demand.
“U.S. and Allied missions are beginning to shift focus beyond Iraq and Afghanistan and XTAR is adjusting its strategy accordingly,” said Andrew Ruszkowski, XTAR’s vice president of global sales and marketing. “We have retained Mercury Swift Solutions to be XTAR’s ‘boots on the ground’ internationally, and to identify opportunities where XTAR and commercial X-band make sense.”
Mercury Swift Solutions, led by Managing Director Paul Bosher, is responsible for identifying growth opportunities for XTAR in various regions of Europe, Africa and Asia. Bosher is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the British Armed Forces.
“Paul brings a wealth of knowledge of foreign military sales through his tenure with the U.K. military,” Ruszkowski added. “He has an established network of relationships around the globe with the government and military buyers that are at the forefront of XTAR’s strategy to expand its business in the global market.”
This new international focus follows moves by XTAR to evolve its domestic market strategy and continue to expand its U.S. government business. The company has strengthened its domestic sales team to address its evolving U.S. government marketing strategy. This includes developing stronger relationships with equipment manufacturers, integrators, resellers, and especially the end-user community, to better understand how XTAR’s systems can more effectively and efficiently meet user and application requirements. XTAR has also made changes to its technical capabilities to better integrate with the newer technologies used in such applications as airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
Mercury Swift Solutions’ Paul Bosher brings 25 years of service with the British Armed Forces to XTAR, including significant C4ISR experience, service in Afghanistan, and assignments within the UK Trade & Investment Defence & Security Organisation and the UK Ministry of Defence. He supervised UK-based Communication Information System’s global sales and marketing campaigns. He also provided expert counsel on international government and military requirements to influence acquisitions and expansions to boost exports of UK-based companies.
Mr. Bosher holds an MA in Defence Studies from the Army Command and Staff College, an MSc in Defence Technology from Cranfield University and a BSc (Hons) in Electrical Systems Engineering from Cranfield University.
