After reconfiguring communications with the International Space Station and civilian satellites, Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, announced that the initial loss of communications with these spacecraft earlier today had been restored. A vital cable outside of Moscow broke due to construction work, causing the temporary breach of communications.

In spite of reports by the state-run news agency RIA, Roscosmos assured that it has full control of all civilian satellites and that the station is operating normally. It will take at least two days for the cable to be restored, which could cause delays in the November 19 departure of three astronauts from the Russian station.

Military satellites were not affected.
