The British government is planning to pour $95 million more on the European Space Agency over the next to years and to endow more than $475 million specifically in space-science research in the next five years.

According to reports, the United Kingdom will host once again ESA’s telecommunications satellite headquarters, which is expected to create about 100 new jobs in technology. Overall, space-related industries in the country have experienced growth in the past years contributing more than $14 billion to Great Britain’s economy. The government expects to raise that number to $48 billion within the next 18 years.

Besides the space program, the country is also seeking to emerge as world leader in seven different technology-related fields: regenerative medicine, energy storage, computing, agricultural science, advanced materials, robotics and synthetic biology.
