ITC Global Purchases Remaining Stake in African VSAT

Maritime enterprise satellite communications provider ITC Global has acquired the remaining 10 percent interest in VSAT specialist ITC Guinea to obtain complete ownership of the entity.

ITC Global said it would leverage ITC Guinea SARL to provide comprehensive networking solutions on a global basis, focusing primarily on Africa-based client sites. ITC Guinea launched its operations in 2005, which will continue to provide VSAT services and support following the transaction.

Maxwell Technology Launches Sat-Space Africa’s Satellite Hot Spot

Maxwell Technology has launched Sat-Space Africa’s Satellite Hot Spot solution, which aims to transform business models for providing connectivity to underserved communities in townships and rural areas.

Satellite Hot Spot uses capacity on Spacecom’s Amos 5 satellite to provide connectivity to remote areas with only on-site satellite dishes and routers required to receive the signal. Maxwell Technology said the product is aimed at rural entrepreneurs wanting to set up Internet cafes, lodges and hotels situated in remote areas and even wireless operators looking for a stable alternative or in addition to their terrestrial infrastructure.

YahLive Signs HD Programming Deal with Tawazon TV

UAE satellite broadcaster YahLive has signed a long-term partnership agreement with free-to-air Arabic TV channel Tawazon TV to broadcast the network in HD through its satellite service.

The agreement not only allows for YahLive viewers in the Middle East and North Africa to access Tawazon TV programs from the 52.5 degrees East orbital slot, but also allows for Tawazon TV viewers to watch their regular programming in HD. The Tawazon TV channel is owned by Lootah Television & Advertising and offers feature news, entertainment and specialty programs.
