Eutelsat Inks Ka-Sat Tooway Deal with Egpytian VSAT Provider

Eutelsat and its Skylogic subsidiary have signed a six-year, 20 million euro ($29 million) distribution agreement with Egyptian VSAT provider Egyptsat, which will enable the company to use Eutelsat’s Tooway satellite service via the Ka-Sat satellite.

Egyptsat will use the Tooway service to deliver broadband connectivity to its users that are beyond reach of terrestrial or wireless networks across Egypt. The company said that Tooway will complement its product portfolio by offering competitive prices for small offices and home users in industrial and economic centers in the north of the country, who can be served through Ka-Sat’s spot beam.

Selects Rockwell Collins for Global Xpress Partnership

MSS operator Inmarsat has selected Rockwell Collins to be its sole lead partner in developing, producing and distributing user terminals for its upcoming Global Xpress (GX) aeronautical services to the aviation industry. Rockwell Collins also will act as a GX service provider.

The GX Ka-band broadband connectivity service will be activated after the launch of the first Inmarsat-5 satellite in mid-2013, with global services for commercial air transport, business aviation and government customers launching worldwide in 2014.

Telesat

Leases Capacity to Colombia’s Axesat

Telesat has entered into a long-term contract with Colombian VSAT service provider Axesat SA, to lease capacity on Telesat’s new Telstar 14R satellite.

Telstar 14R was launched in May to replace and expand on the services offered by the all Ku-band Telstar 14 spacecraft at the 63 degrees West orbital slot. The operator said that Telstar 14R aims to provide its customers throughout Latin America with additional capacity, improved geographic coverage and higher power.
