SpaceX Adds Astronaut to Safety, Mission Assurance Team

Retired NASA Astronaut Garrett Reisman has joined SpaceX as senior engineer of astronaut safety and mission assurance.

Reisman will join another former NASA astronaut, Ken Bowersox, in preparing SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft to carry astronauts. Reisman will help SpaceX in the development of human interfaces including controls, displays, seats, suits and environmental control systems.

Reisman flew on two space shuttle missions before retiring from NASA in 1998. He also served with the Expedition-16 and the Expedition-17 crews as a flight engineer aboard the International Space Station.
 

SSPI Elects Executive Directors, Board Members

The Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) appointed Arianespace President Clayton Mowry and ASC Signal President and CEO Keith Buckley to second terms as SSPI chairman and president, respectively. New directors include MTV Networks Vice President of Technology Mike Aloisi and Fox Networks Executive Director of Satellite Engineering Paul Cohen.
