Thrane & Thrane Releases Aviator Swiftbroadband Solutions

Satellite communications equipment manufacturer Thrane & Thrane has released its Aviator 200, 300 and 350 Swiftbroadband solutions.

The Aviator 200 aims to provide a compact, lightweight system offering reliable, high-speed connectivity for applications within the UAV, military and security sectors, providing data speeds up to 200 kilobits per second (Kbps) and a single AMBE 2 channel for real-time video, data and voice relay links between the aircraft and ground control stations.

The Aviator 300 is designed to provide connectivity speeds of up to 332 Kbps, enabling real-time video, voice and data links between aircraft and ground control stations utilizing an intermediate gain antenna, a router and a Wi-Fi and PBX beam-steering unit. The Aviator 350 provides speeds of up to 432 kbps when combined with a high gain antenna and also provide the full spectrum of SwiftBroadband services offered within Inmarsat’s I-4 constellation, including the BGAN X-Stream service.

Toshiba Plans Glasses-Free 3-D TV Set

Japanese electronics manufacturer Toshiba is planning to market a 3-D TV that does not need special glasses. Toshiba will unveil three models of the set, which uses a system that emits a number of rays of light with various angles from the screen so that viewers can see stereoscopic images without glasses.

Consumer market reports have indicated that the most common complaint from customers over 3-D was the requirement to wear glasses while watching TV.
