BusinessCom Launches iDirect VSAT Services in Middle East

BusinessCom launched iDirect Evolution Ku-band satellite Internet access services on the Loral Skynet Telstar-11N and SES NSS-12 geostationary satellites. The services cover the Middle East, Iraq and surrounding regions.

BusinessCom said its primary markets for the services are DTH and SOHO users, Internet cafes, SCADA, telemetry applications, and small- to medium-sized wireless hot spots.
 

CapRock Expands U.S. Military DISN Access

CapRock Government Solutions expanded its satellite and terrestrial infrastructure to include bandwidth-on-demand to more than 35 U.S. Department of Defense locations and direct connections at 24 U.S. Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) access points.

The terrestrial expansion is part of its DISN Access Transport Services (DATS) contract with the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Under DATS, CapRock is contracted to integrate U.S. Defense installations onto the DISN backbone network, interconnecting U.S. military and intelligence facilities throughout the world. Two contracts for the Northeast and Southeast regions of the United States were awarded to CapRock in 2006 to help connect more than 800,000 DISN users.
 

Iridium Integrates SBD Service on Satellite Transceivers

Iridium Communications expanded its value-added manufacturing agreement with Quake Global to integrate Iridium’s short-burst data (SBD) service into Quake’s Q4000 and Q-Pro devices,

The units provide two-way, satellite data communications services required for global remote tracking and control monitoring by maritime enterprise users. The Q4000 modem aims to allow system integrators to develop applications using a single communications protocol across multiple networks, along with GPS.
