BusinessCom Launches IP VSAT Service

Satellite telecommunications service provider BusinessCom has launched its Advantage IP VSAT service to provide coverage to Middle East and parts of Asia.

The Ku-band, IO satellite service is designed to provide IP backbone connectivity for Internet service providers and enterprise customers at throughput-per-terminal IP speeds of up to 52 megabits per second (Mbps) based on the DVB-S2 standard with adaptive coding and modulation. Throughput can be increased up to 133 Mbps per terminal.

The service is available in both bi-directional receive and transmit and receive-only configurations.
 

MTN Introduces Maritime Connectivity Service

MTN Satellite Communications has introduced FlexNet, a Ku-band data and voice service for larger yachts. The service aims to provide always-on Internet for browsing and e-mail plus up to two independent phone lines. The data and phone circuits can be used simultaneously without interference.

FlexNet uses MTN’s multi-regional Ku-band satellite network with automatic beam switching technology to provide seamless global connectivity. It also minimizes disruptions caused by signal blockage from the vessel’s superstructure or other nearby buildings when in port.
 

Globecomm Systems Captures Maritime Managed Services Contract

Globecomm Systems subsidiary Telaurus Communications has been awarded a three-year maritime managed services contract from PACC Ship Managers in Singapore.

Telaurus will provide maritime fleet broadband terminals and its SeaComm maritime communications platform to thirty PACC vessels and an end-to-end maritime communications solution suite, which aims to operating costs and improving efficiencies at sea.
