[Satellite TODAY 03-04-10] Viaccess will work with NEC on developing technology for hybrid set-top boxes, Viaccess announced March 3.
   The two companies will collaborate to offer incorporate conditional access services, supplied by Viaccess, into NEC Electronics’ EMMA3SL/P system-on-chip, targeted at MPEG-4 HD hybrid set-top boxes.
   NEC Electronics’ EMMA3SL/P will offer cost-effective and low-power consumption set-top box solutions. It is suitable for a wide range of established and growing MPEG-4 HD markets such as low-cost converters, mid-range dual tuner DVR-ready pay TV and hybrid set-top boxes. In addition, it aims to bring a competitive solution to the growing need for technically demanding IP set-top boxes and IP hybrid set-top boxes.
