U.S. Air Force Contracts SSI for Spaceport Launch Services
[Satellite TODAY 02-12-10] Spaceport Systems International (SSI), a limited partnership between ITT Corp. and the California Commercial Spaceport, has been awarded a five-year contract to provide spaceport launch services for the U.S. Air Force, ITT announced Feb. 11.
The maximum potential value of the contract is $48 million and actual revenue from the contract will be dependent upon the services specifically requested by the Air Force. The SSI spaceport is one of four launch facilities designated as qualified launch sites for the converted Minuteman 2 launch vehicle.
The contract does not specify which launch vehicle will be used.
