[Satellite TODAY 02-12-10] SpaceX has received all of the flight hardware needed for the debut launch of its Falcon 9 medium-to-heavy-lift vehicle at the Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40), in Cape Canaveral, Fla., the company announced Feb. 11.
The final delivery included the Falcon 9’s second stage, which completed testing at SpaceX’s test facility in McGregor, Texas, earlier this month. SpaceX has initiated full vehicle integration of the rocket, which will include a Dragon spacecraft qualification unit. Falcon 9 and Dragon were selected by NASA in December 2008 under the $1.6 billion COTS program contract to resupply the International Space Station once the space shuttle retires in 2010.
“We expect to launch in one to three months after completing full vehicle integration,” SpaceX Director of Florida Launch Operations Brian Mosdell said in a statement.
