Parallel Upgrades SatManage Network Suite
Parallel, recently acquired by iDirect, has launched a new version of its SatManage network management software suite.
SatManage version 5 will be used by oil and gas and maritime VSAT providers to integrate and automate elements of a network operations center and enable reporting from several hundreds of thousands of data sets on a single, secure Web-based portal.
Existing users of SatManage version 4 will be offered the new version free under the company’s software upgrade and support subscription scheme for all their existing components.
RT Logic Develops Software-Defined Modems for Iridium
Integral Systems subsidiary RT Logic will develop a software-defined modem for new feeder-link terminals deployed at Iridium ground stations.
RT Logic will supply Iridium with two prototype modules based on RT Logic’s T400XR commercial-off-the-shelf product for on-orbit test and verification and expects to complete the development and certification effort by the end of the year in order to support the Iridium Next constellation schedule.
Spectrum Signal Processing Releases I/O Signal Processing Module
Spectrum Signal Processing, a supplier of signal processing, has released XMC-2131, a new high-speed I/O module.
The XMC-2131, which can be used in applications such as signals intelligence, electronic warfare and military communications systems, features a Virtex-5 FX130T FPGA from Xilinx combined with high-speed dual 300 MSPS 14-bit DACs.
The new module aims to allow offloading of more DSP resources from a host, allowing signal processing algorithms to run at faster speeds and higher bandwidths in order to provide customers with new capabilities, including access to high-speed, low-latency wideband signal conversion and processing.
Spectrum said it has already received more than $1 million in orders for the XMC-2131.
Thomson Unveils HD Satellite Set-Top Box for Consumer IP
Thomson has initiated a high-volume production launch of its HD MPEG-4 DSI705, a satellite set-top box (STB) capable of supporting advanced, IP-based video services over existing coaxial L-band delivery infrastructures.
The STB, which combines L-band with low-noise block control signaling, aims to enable operators to migrate to IP over single wire technologies using simplified installation techniques. The unit also allows multi-room viewing and PVR.
The technology leverages existing infrastructure and provides operators the ability to market new services and expand residential presence using a networked service platform.
