[Satellite TODAY 01-27-10] VT iDirect accounted for nearly half of all satellite hubs shipped in 2008, according to a report by satellite industry analysis firm Comsys, released Jan. 26.
   The 2009 edition of the Comsys VSAT report also revealed that iDirect has increased its share of hardware sales, placing the company as the second largest VSAT systems manufacturer by TDMA hardware revenue. iDirect also raised its share of terminals shipped internationally by 11 percent.
    The report said the growth was driven by the launch of iDirect’s next-generation DVB-S2/ACM platform, Evolution. “By mid-2009, over 10,000 Evolution remotes had been shipped, running in over 80 different networks with customers reporting the system to be extremely stable and performing as iDirect had promised it would,” Comsys said in the report.
