[Satellite Today – 3-24-08] Financial investor Avenue Capital Group has acquired 6.5 percent of German pay-TV operator Premiere Star GmbH from Premiere GmbH & Co., Premiere announced June 24. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
    Premiere Star, launched commercial satellite pay-TV service in September and has more than 170,000 subscribers in Germany. Premiere currently markets 35 channels under the Premiere Star brand, bundled in the two programming packages Premiere Thema and Premiere Star.
    “Avenue Capital has an impressive experience in the media sector,” Wolfram Winter, managing director, Premiere Star, said in a statement. “We are happy to use this expertise to continue the company’s successful development.”
