[Satellite Today – 6-17-08] Tandberg Television has won further business from leading Korean DTH operator, Korea Digital Satellite Broadcasting Co. Ltd., more universally recognized under its ‘SkyLife’ brand name, the company said June 17. Tandberg will be upgrading the satellite head-end system for SkyLife.
    The enhanced MPEG-4 AVC system will allow SkyLife to expand its high definition (HD) TV services. As Korea’s only satellite broadcast operator, SkyLife is at the forefront of the country’s television landscape and is aiming to offer more channels and continue its improvement of advanced services to its subscribers.
SkyLife operates in an environment where there is high broadband penetration so it will continue to be at the cutting edge of new services as the threat from IPTV is only likely to grow in Korea over the next few years.
