[Satellite Today – 6-3-08] Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Ltd. (AsiaSat) signed a new capacity deal with Ayur Group‘s broadcast arm Vintage Studio Pvt. Ltd., the companies said June 2.
    The deal is for C-band capacity on AsiaSat 2 for the launch of Vintage’s new television channel throughout India and the Asia-Pacific region. Ayur Living India, a free-to-air channel, will offer education and social programs in English and Hindi.
    Programming will be produced in-house at Vintage’s own studio and uplinked to AsiaSat-2 through its teleport in New Delhi, which is under construction and will be ready for the channel launch before the end of November.
Financial details of the contract were not released.
