SpaceDev Inc.’s Starsys unit will manufacture 60 low-shock spacecraft release mechanisms for Sweden’s Saab Space AB, SpaceDev announced July 11.

It is the third major production order for Starsys’ Clamp Band Opening Device, which is a derivative of Lockheed Martin’s Fast Acting Shock-less Separation Nut technology transferred to Starsys in the late 1990s.
