Access Intelligence Names Chase  To Chair SATELLITE 2008

Access Intelligence has named Scott Chase chairman for the SATELLITE 2008 Conference and Exhibition.
Active in the satellite industry since 1981, for the past four years Chase has been a partner of Grid Media.
His responsibilities as chairman include planning content and recruiting more than 300 speakers for the four-day program slated for Feb. 25 to 28 in the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Advantech Appoints Sales Executives

Advantech appointed Richard McPhaden vice president of sales and Michael DiPaolo senior director of business development, the company announced.
Prior to joining Advantech, McPhaden was vice president of marketing at Polarsat and previously has held positions at Telesat, Spar, Comstream and NSI. DiPaolo has spent his career with companies such as Northern Telecom, Oerlikon Aerospace and Memotec.

Comtech EF Data Expands Government Programs Group

Comtech EF Data Corp. named Robert Turner vice president of government programs.
Turner will manage the government programs group, the company’s primary interface to government, military and civilian agency customers. Prior to joining Comtech EF Data, Turner held management positions with SES New Skies, Equant, Global One and Sprint.

EuroNews Names Head Of Distribution For Africa

EuroNews, the pan-European news channel, appointed Jean-Luc Maertens head of distribution for Africa, the company announced. EuroNews is distributed to more than 3 million households throughout Africa via satellite platforms, and Maertens will aim to boost the channel’s presence in sub-Saharan Africa by increasing its distribution throughout alternate platforms.

GeoEye Appoints Director Of Government Affairs

GeoEye appointed Uyen Dinh senior director for government affairs, the satellite imaging company announced.
Dinh is responsible for the overall development and execution of the company’s legislative affairs and government relations programs.
Prior to joining GeoEye, she served as chief counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Dinh also served as counsel for the House Armed Services Committee, the House Government Reform Committee and for Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.).

MRC Names Marketing Executive

Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) named George Maier director of product marketing for the broadcast sector, the company announced.
Maier will lead product development activities for MRC’s core marketing group. A veteran of broadcast and telecommunications businesses including Orion Broadcast Solutions, Maier also has worked for Telco Systems and Artel Video Systems.

MSV Names Vice President Of Marketing

Mobile Satellite Ventures LP (MSV) named Dave Farmer vice president of marketing for satellite services, the company announced.
Farmer previously served as vice president of marketing for Telenor Satellite Services Inc.

SDN Global Appoints Executive

SDN Global announced that Philip Arcoria has joined the company as senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development. Arcoria previously served in a similar position at CapRock Communications.

Voom HD Makes Exec Appointment

Voom HD Networks appointed David Alworth vice president of operations and program administration, the company announced. Alworth will be responsible for operational and business affairs for Voom HD Networks’ 15 high-definition channels, Voom’s global channel and its ongoing content sales operations. The channels are on numerous direct-to-home platforms around the globe.

Xtar Names Vice President For Government Services

Xtar named William Schmidt vice president of government services, Xtar announced.
Schmidt will be responsible for the business development, sales and marketing of X-band services to the U.S. government as well as allied governments. He previously worked for Artel Inc., where he served as director of global solutions.
