Rockwell Collins International has chosen EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies Inc., to develop a satcom system for the Boeing 747-8, EMS Technologies announced June 18.

Based on orders forecast for the 747-8 alone, the agreement is worth approximately $15 million throughout the next 10 years.

"The rising trend in Europe and in parts of Asia where airlines are starting to offer more in-flight communications services will help to drive the North American demand for such services,” said Paul Domorski, president and CEO of EMS Technologies.
