China Prepares Oceanic Survey Satellite
China’s ocean monitoring satellite, Ocean-1B, has completed on-orbit testing, Xinhua reported April 20.
The satellite, which monitors the color and temperature of the ocean, was placed into orbit April 11 by a Long March-2C rocket.
Chinese officials say the satellite will be used to survey oceanic resources and develop coastal areas, help with port construction and monitor and prevent oceanic pollution and study global environmental changes.
