Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,203,490 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, MSV announced April 17.

The patent describes and claims systems and methods by which a satellite optimally routes push-to-send messages between terrestrial and satellite networks. It marks the 20th issued to MSV, protecting the company’s hybrid satellite-terrestrial system including its Ancillary Terrestrial Component (ATC) technology.

The patent, entitled “Satellite Assisted Push-To-Send Radioterminal Systems and Methods,” addresses novel features of MSV’s next-generation state-of-the-art hybrid satellite-terrestrial communication system.
