AAE Systems Awarded Disaster Response Vehicular Communications System Contract
AAE Systems Inc. (AAE) has won a contract to deliver up to 30 disaster response vehicles to a customer in the Middle East.
The vehicles, equipped with advanced integrated communications facilities, will support and maintain communications connectivity in even the most remote regions or under catastrophic conditions. Power and cooling systems are also integrated.
Each vehicle, equipped with an acquisition antenna, SCPC and MF-TDMA DAMA modem, supports applications such as data and voice connectivity, videoconferencing and streaming, video surveillance, Wi-Fi, and IP-PBX. The communications systems include GSM, VHF/UHF Land Mobile Radio and HF. As a result of the UHF/VHF ground-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities, the vehicles facilitate relief work by allowing coordinated efforts between ground and air units. The various vehicular systems are integrated via a radio-telephone interoperability platform and wide area connectivity is achieved via a satellite link to the main operations center.
Advantech Supplies NATO 3C Agency
Advantech Satellite Networks Inc. has sold a digital video broadcast-return channel satellite system to a NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency, Advantech AMT Inc. announced.
NATO will use the system, which consists of a hub and VSAT indoor units, for evaluation purposes. Financial details were not disclosed.
Advent Communications To supply 1.8-meter Newswifts to SISLink
Advent Communications has won a significant order to supply four 1.8-meter Newswift antennas to Europe’s largest operator of satellite newsgathering trucks, SISLink. Two of the NewSwifts will be integrated on to one of SISlinks new highly specified high-definition (HD) vehicles, which will then be leased to a leading national broadcaster for coverage of high-profile sporting events. The additional NewSwifts will each be installed onto two HD vehicles designed and built by SISLink predominantly for major sports and broadcasting events.
SISLink is buying Advent’s largest Newswift, the 1.8-meter antenna for Ku-band, which will be supplied with Advent’s GPS based auto satellite acquisition package.
Comtech EF Data, RaySat Antenna To Study Providing Communications-On-The-Move Solutions
Comtech EF Data Corp. announced that it entered into an agreement with RaySat Antenna Systems LLC for interoperability testing of Comtech EF Data’s CDM-570/L satellite modem and Vipersat management system with RaySat Antenna Systems’ StealthRay as well as to study working together to provide mobility and communications on-the-move solutions.
GIT Satellite To Provide Iridium Communications For Iditarod
GIT Satellite and Iridium Satellite provided communications for the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska. GIT Satellite donated a complete complement of Iridium equipment, airtime, and data-enabling kits to be used to communicate with remote outposts along the 1,049-mile route from Anchorage to Nome, the company announced.
NDS Wins African Conditional Access Contract
NDS will supply conditional access services to Gateway Communications for a new satellite pay-TV service in sub-Saharan Africa. Gateway plans to launch an African-focused, subscription-based service by mid-year. GTV initially will target English-speaking countries.
Starsys Receives Follow-on to WorldView-2 Contract
Starsys Inc., a subsidiary of SpaceDev, has been awarded a follow-on order for the DigitalGlobe WorldView-2 satellite program from Ball Aerospace and Technology Corp., SpaceDev announced.
A $1.3 million authorization to proceed will initiate the contract for solar-array rotational drive assemblies and drive-control electronics.
TCS Gains Long-Term Contract For Secure Communications
TeleCommunication Systems Inc. (TCS) has been awarded a 33-month contract extension to deliver SwiftLink VSATs, satellite space segment, iDirect hub services and other services to an unspecified government customers, the company announced.
The extension is valued at more than $4 million.
