[3/30/07] Chrysler Group will exclusive rights to offer Sirius Backseat TV in 2008, Sirius Satellite Radio’s foray into video offerings, the companies announced March 29.

Sirius Backseat TV will be available in 2008 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles and will be priced at $470 for a full year of service when packaged with Chrysler Group’s Rear Seat Entertainment System and Sirius Satellite Radio.

Sirius Backseat TV operates via an in-vehicle satellite video receiver and two small roof-mounted antennas. Programming is displayed on the vehicle’s second- and/or third-row video screens.

After the first year, the TV offering – which provides Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and the Cartoon Network – will cost $7 per month as an add-on with the $12.95 subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio.

Separately, Sirius unveiled a deal with Mini USA to offer the radio service in 2007 Mini Cooper vehicles along with a lifetime subscription for $950.
