Direct-to-home operator Sky TV New Zealand is increasing the number of widescreen channels available to customers, as the National Geographic Channel will begin broadcasting in 16:9 widescreen in early April, Sky announced.

UKTV will begin broadcasting in 16:9 widescreen in July. The feature is part of the progressive introduction of the widescreen format across Sky’s digital channels. Sky currently broadcasts in widescreen on Sky Movies 1 and 2, MGM, Rialto Channel and the Rugby Channel.
