Österreichischer Lloyd Ship Management (ÖLSM) is fitting its fleet of ships with Iridium satellite terminals, Iridium announced March 15. One Net Ltd. is supplying and installing the Sailor SC 4000 Iridium maritime terminals under a service agreement with Stratos.

The ÖLSM ships will use the terminals for crew calling using prepaid individual PIN codes and as backup communications for ship’s business. The system automatically separates the charges for crew calls from ship’s calls to facilitate onboard accounting for satellite costs.

The value of the deal was not released.
