Iridium Satellite, Arinc, ICG Partner To Supply Satellite Voice Service For Cathay Pacific
Mainstream Data Inks Global Content Delivery Contract For Splash News
Entertainment news and picture agency Splash News and Picture has chosen Mainstream Data’s MediasFTP service to deliver the agency’s content worldwide, Mainstream Data announced.
Splash News provides its subscribers with an estimated 1,200 high-quality photographs per day. As an element of its turnkey service to Splash News, Mainstream provides a custom Web application that facilitates the collection of photographs from the agency’s photographers around the world. Using this application, they can upload time-critical photographs directly to Mainstream’s distribution system for immediate delivery to end-user sites.
RamTelecom, SkyPort International Form Strategic Alliance
RamTelecom Inc. and SkyPort International Inc. have formed a strategic alliance to serve the North American market, the companies announced.
SkyPort’s Houston-based network operations center and RamTelecom’s Ottawa-based network operations center will be connected by fiber-optic cable. This will provide full backup for each facility and further secure communications service offerings by providing complete network redundancy for customers using either system.
Savi Networks SaviTrak Makes Inroads To South Korea
Savi Networks has extended its SaviTrak real-time cargo-tracking information service to terminal locations at the Port of Busan, South Korea.
Among the highest-volume shipping hubs for the Asia Pacific region, the Port of Busan is the fourth largest trading partner with the United States by container volume.
Skylogic, ViaSat To Provide Satellite-Based Communications For Jets
Skylogic, a broadband affiliate of Eutelsat, has teamed with ViaSat to provide in-flight communications to business jets flying over Europe, Skylogic announced.
The D-Star aero service is being used by Arinc, which provides European and Mediterranean Basin communications to aircraft through Ku-band capacity on Eutelsat’s Atlantic Bird 2.
The service supplier provides business aviation passengers with e-mail and Internet access, voice over IP, fax over IP, and corporate intranets.
SkyPort partners with comdex to provide secure communications
SkyPort International Inc. announced a strategic partnership with Comdex Inc. in which the two companies will jointly provide secure satellite communications services to Comdex customers around the globe.
SkyPort provides broadband satellite and terrestrial communication services from its network operations center and teleport at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Houston. Comdex, based in Herndon, Va., provides secure global communications to the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security as well as to government agencies in the Middle East.
Under the agreement, SkyPort’s teleport operations will be part of the Comdex communications package offered to military, government and enterprise users.
Telenor Expands Equipment, Services For GSA Contract
Telenor Satellite Services has added Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) service as well as other satellite services to its offerings under its U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Technology Service contract, the company announced.
Under the contract, awarded in 2000, Telenor provides satellite services to all U.S. government agencies and authorized government contractors. The latest modification to the award adds BGAN service and equipment as well as a portfolio of equipment supporting Iridium, Globalstar and Thuraya satellite services to Telenor’s portfolio.
