Hughes Aids Broadband Schools Program In Mexico
Hughes Network Systems announced the next phase of a contract with Enlaces Integra and Globalstar de México to deliver an additional 10,860 broadband satellite terminals for the Mexican Ministry of Education’s Enciclomedia program.
This deal will serve about 17,500 secondary school classrooms in Mexico, expanding the initial network of more than 13,000 terminals serving about 37,500 primary school classrooms.
SCN Partners To Deliver Broadband To Remote Areas Of Canada
The Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN) and OmniGlobe Networks Inc. (OGN) have formed a strategic alliance to deliver satellite-based wireless broadband Internet to rural and remote communities across Canada.
SCN and OGN will combine satellite and terrestrial wireless access: SCN will provide and maintain the satellite technical platform, while OGN will develop, provide, manage and market the terrestrial wireless platform.
SCN and OGN performed a six-month demonstration of the project during a 2006 trial involving several remote communities in northern Quebec.
Skylogic To Provide Communications to Business Jets
Skylogic, a broadband affiliate of Eutelsat, has teamed with ViaSat to provide in-flight communications to business jets flying over Europe.
The D-Star aero service is being used by Arinc, which provides European and Mediterranean Basin communications to aircraft through Ku-band capacity on Eutelsat’s Atlantic Bird 2.
The service supplier provides business aviation passengers with e-mail and Internet access, voice over IP, fax over IP, and corporate intranets.
