Globecomm Systems Inc. announced Dec. 21 that it has been awarded a five-year, $5.5 million contract from Harris Corp. to provide support services for the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration’s Telecommunications Infrastructure Satellite (FTI-SAT) program.

Under the program, Harris has upgraded satellite equipment at 43 remote FAA sites to support radar, weather, and air-to-ground communications. Under the life cycle support contract, Globecomm will provide turnkey operations and maintenance responsibility.

The contract includes six one-year options that if exercised would bring the total value of the award to $12.7 million, Globecomm said.
