Intelsat Buys Glowlink Interference Detection System
Intelsat has purchased a Glowlink Model 8000 Satellite Geolocation System to monitor sources of potential interference to its satellite signals.
The spectrum monitoring and geolocation system can monitor satellites from remote locations and is controlled from either a single operation center or multiple operation centers.
MRC Introduces New VAR
With the demand growing for its Advent Satellite Product Offering, Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) signed a contract and value-added reseller agreement with Globecomm Systems.
The initial contract includes an unspecified quantity of Advent Mantis 1.9-meter and 2.4-meter antenna systems. Globecomm will integrate these antenna systems with RF electronics under the company’s Explorer Product line.
The system will support voice, video and data transport for an undisclosed U.S. government user.
Norsat To Provide Satellite
Terminals To Guantanamo
Norsat International has been selected to provide portable satellite terminals, maintenance, support and training for the U.S. Southern Command operating in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The U.S. Southern Command oversees Joint Task Force Guantanamo, which is responsible for maintaining enemy combatant detention centers at Guantanamo Bay.
Ultra-DNE Nets $18.4 Million Order
Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies, a manufacturer of tactical voice and data communication systems, announced that the U.S. Marine Corps has placed an $18.4 million order with the company as part of the AN/MRC-142 Product Improvement Program.
Ultra-DNE will provide high-speed tactical access concentrators and protocol converters to the program, with scheduled deliveries through 2008.
The AN/MRC-142 system is a medium range, UHF line-of-sight radio system used by the Marines to communicate between deployed troops and command and control centers.
