MTN Signs Three-year Contract With Cruise Line For Internet Service
Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN) and Digital Seas International have signed a three-year contract to provide Renaissance Cruises’ fleet with Internet Cafés.
Following a successful trial on one of the Renaissance ships, the R2, company officials decided to extend the Internet Café concept to seven more ships of their fleet. Digital Seas International, which is based in New York, is responsible for installing the Internet Cafés, while MTN supplies C-band communications for the Cafés.
MTN officials said they expect to complete the installations this month. Two more ships, now under construction, will be completed and will join the fleet during the next eight months.
MTN, which specializes in C-band Internet, data, fax and voice, as well as Inmarsat services, to the cruise and offshore industries, is based in Miramar, Fla. It is a subsidiary of ATC Teleports Inc., itself a subsidiary of American Tower Corp. [AMT] of Boston.
