Arts & Entertainment’s History Channel has chosen to go with Turkey’s Star Digital platform, a rival to the larger DigiTurk outfit. History will air a 12-hour programme block, to a claimed 100,000 subscribers. History in Turkey will be a joint venture with Merkez Sistern Filmcilik. Additionally, History Channel went live on July 20 on Israel’s ‘Yes’ DTH platform. Under its local Hebrew name ‘Arutz Hahistoria’ it is already seen by satellite viewers and on September 21 will be added to some cable systems, adding 500,000 homes.
