Spot Image Corp. has been named a U.S. Geological Survey business partner to distribute commercially Landsat 7 satellite images. To be named a business partner, Spot committed itself to the standard deal of ordering a minimum of 50 images from Landsat 7 during the next two years.

Spot will resell the images to its customers as individual scenes or as part of other products.

Spot Image anticipates no problem meeting these requirements. A recent agreement with its Spot Beijing subsidiary will account for the bulk of the image requirements of the contract, said Clark Nelson, director of corporate communication at Spot.
