The Swedish aerospace manufacturer Saab Ericsson Space has won two subcontracts to supply onboard electronic systems for satellites under construction.

Under one of the subcontracts, the company will provide 45 C- and Ku-band receivers, which will be part of the transponders for the two Intelsat 10 satellites planned to go into operation in about two years, said Bengt Sundh, the director of marketing and sales in Saab Ericsson’s Microwave Division. For competitive reasons, he said, Saab Ericsson did not give the value of the contract.

Under the other subcontract, Saab Ericsson will supply 18 upconverters and 32 downconverters for the Ka-band Spaceway satellites being built by Hughes Space and Communications Co., the manufacturing subsidiary of Hughes Electronics Corp. [GMH]. Delivery of the converters will start next May.
