Zygmunt Solorz, owner of the Polsat network is talking to News Corporation about the possible sale of a 33 per cent interest in the company. Before such a deal can go ahead Solorz will have to withdraw from the long list of extraneous business ventures.

Polsat is wanting to retreat from companies such as the companionship of life insurances, PTE Polsat and possibly Invest Bank. Polsat would then become the holding company for Polsat, Polsat 2, Lithuania’s BTV, LNT (Latvia) and TV1 (Estonia). The Polsat digital platform and Optimus companies, such as eMarket, would also be included.

According to the Polish newspaper Puls Buisnes, the deal has a considerable chance of going through. Solorz and News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch have spoken several times and an initial agreement has already been signed.
