Polish regulator KRRiT has agreed to a 33 per cent shareholding in Polsat by a Dutch holding company. Polsat Media BV, a holding company controlled by Polsat’s owner Zygmunt Solorz, will invest in Polska Telewizja Satelitarna Polsat SA holder of the Polsat licence.

The regulator has also agreed to a number of name changes to its licensed channels on the Polsat 2 Cyfrowy platform. Formula 1 is replaced by ‘On’, meaning He, while sister channel ‘Tylko Dla Ciebie’ (‘Only for you’) will change its name to ‘Ona’, meaning ‘She’.

Children’s channel SMYK becomes ‘Junior’. Two new channels are being added to Polsat 2; Teleuniwersytet, covering education, and Polsat Sport. Viewers to the latter will be able to watch tennis, football, including the Champions League, hockey and boxing where Polsat has exclusive rights to Dariusz Michalczewski fights.
