ANTENA 3 IN HISPASAT MOVE
Telefonica-backed Antena 3 TV has moved the transmissions of its international channel to the Hispasat 1C satellite (30 degrees West). Antena 3 Internacional, which is aimed at North America, was previously distributed by PanAmSat 5 (58 degrees West).
The signal is sent through an optic fiber circuit from the Antena 3 headquarters to the teleport of Telefonica Servicios Audiovisuales and is then uplinked to the new satellite.
Following the satellite change the channel believes it will be able to improve its coverage in the region. The signal is now capable of being received by dishes between 60 and 90cm.
Antena 3 Internacional has been available in North America since 1996 and is currently received in four million homes.
