UPC, has delayed the official launch of its digital headend-in-the-sky (‘Euro HITS’) platform to September because of delays in completing the facility.

While the platform itself has been operational for some weeks, a UPC source said there was not much more to the delay than waiting for the carpet to be delivered.

The platform will allow UPC to transmit its burgeoning portfolio of self- owned channels intended for pan-European distribution via the Telstar-12 satellite to UPC’s various cable headends across the continent.

UPC is operating a number of ‘own brand’ channels including Film 1, Sport 1 and Reality TV.
