Cambridge Industries, the Berkshire-based LNB manufacturer has been sold to the American owned dish manufacturer Channel Master for $35 million. The deal was put together by the 3i Technology Group, which in 1994 supported the group’s management buyout to the tune of pounds2.34 million, and subsequently invested a further pounds1.275 million to support the company’s continued growth.

The two companies first worked together on the outdoor units used by Sky Digital. Cambridge developed the necessary Universal LNB while Channel Master produced the dish. According to Ian Radley, managing director, Cambridge the company is responsible for over 60 per cent of the outdoor units installed by Sky Digital customers. Speaking to Interspace at the Mediacast exhibition in London Radley said that the Cambridge sales team would now be responsible for markets outside of the US and would benefit from cross marketing with the Channel Master sales team.
