The number of German local FM radio services that add an inexpensive digital satellite feed to reach DTH homes is set to increase further: the latest addition is Hit-Radio Antenne, a commercial broadcaster from Niedersachsen. Meanwhile, youth radio Sunshine Live has returned to its previous home on ADR subcarrier 6.48 MHz of ZDF’s transponder 33 (10.964 GHz H) on the Astra system (19.2 East). The channel had to abandon satellite in March to enable BIG FM, the new pop and rock station in which it is a shareholder, to feed cable headends and terrestrial FM transmitters. Mannheim-based BIG FM has now transferred to Hot Bird 5 (13 degrees East), transponder 155 (11.604 GHz H, SR 27.500, FEC 5/6), joining Party Radio – The Bomb. Relax FM 92.4, a pop channel from Munich, last week received permission from the Bavarian media authority to add a satellite feed. The radio station will be available on Beta Digital’s Astra transponder 91.
