Fox Kids Europe confirmed it will launch a German version this October on Premiere World, the Kirch Group/BSkyB-backed digital platform.

Ynon Kreiz, Fox Kids Europe’s CEO, at the MIPtv market in Cannes, said he would be using a different business model to that adopted by Nickelodeon, which had to close its German operation after sustaining huge losses. Key to Fox Kids’ model (in addition to its focus on the pay-TV market), would be interactivity and a linked web-site that will itself generate positive cash-flow, he said.

Kreiz said that Premiere World willguarantee Fox Kids Germany an initial audience of at least two million subscribers, and by the end of next year he expects 3.5 million subs. Fox Kids Germany will be part of Premiere World’s Family package and will broadcast from 0600-2200.
