Disney Channel Europe is to be divided into up to four separate channels, rolling out initially in the UK, France and Germany. It is not yet clear exactly how the channels will be themed, but it is understood that cartoon-based and pre-school programming blocks are being considered. The first launch probably will be on Sky Digital later this year. Disney previously has been sceptical of the need to develop additional thematic spin-offs, following the example of other children’s channels.
