German public broadcaster ARD had to delay its widely publicised change of transponders on the Astra satellite system (19.2 degrees East) because of technical problems. Originally scheduled for April 6, an attempt will now be made on April 18. The part of ARD’s two-transponder digital package which is uplinked by regional affiliate ORB in Potsdam will be shifted from transponder 119 (12.722 GHz H, SR 22.000, FEC 5/6) to transponder 85 (12.110 GHz H, SR 27.500, FEC 3/4). A break of approximately one hour will occur. The new transponder gives ARD more bandwidth (38 Mbit/s instead of 34 Mbit/s).
