American Mobile, KVH Announce Iridium Specials
American Mobile Satellite Corp. [SKYC] announced its program to help subscribers who are left without service in the wake of Iridium LLC’s [IRID] demise. The Reston, Va.-based company will offer an “instant rebate” promotion on certain Skycell satellite communications services.
Affected Iridium customers will be to receive up to a $400 rebate on Skycell activation and listed equipment. The service provides a nationwide two-way radio network with seamless dispatch communications, telephone connectivity, data transmissions and fax communications. Service is currently available in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean and in hundreds of miles of coastal waters.
KVH Industries Inc. [KVHI] also made an offer to help Iridium customers. The company is offering Iridium customers the opportunity to trade in their phones for a $500 credit toward a new KVH Tracphone 25 or Tracphone 50 satellite phone. The Tracphones use the global mini-M satellite service from Inmarsat.
