Arab Radio and Television (ART) is planing to bring at least four Arabic language channels to 28.2 degrees East. An ART insider suggested that it has considered renting transponder space on Astra but none is available this side of December (when Astra 2D is planned to be on station). Interspace understands that ART is now in discussion with Eutelsat about taking capacity at 28.5 degrees, which would give ART coverage over the UK on BSkyB digital set-top boxes. Additionally ART says it is talking to other Arabic broadcasters wishing to join it in creating a larger bouquet specifically for UK viewers.
