Stratos Global Corp. [SGB] has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Datacom Inc. for $65 million. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and other undisclosed closing conditions.

Datacom currently provides more than 500 customers with voice and data communications at speeds up to 45 megabits per second through a digital microwave system located in the Gulf of Mexico. Datacom also owns and operates a Ku-band satellite teleport in Lafayette, La.

“This is another step in our plan to provide remote data solutions to key industrial customers around the world,” said Derek Wood, president and CEO of Stratos.

Stratos provides customers in remote locations with a variety of wireless, IP, data and voice solutions through a wide array of technologies. It serves government, military and industrial users worldwide.
