Australia’s Telstra has formed an alliance with BT Broadcast Services to provide joint broadcasting solutions for news, sports and special events. The deal comes ahead of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in September. BT will provide a range of services, including satellite and mobile earth stations and digital video platforms to complement Telstra Olympic Media and Broadcast Solutions’ own broadcast services. Telstra and BT already have an agreement for occasional use in digital on the Intelsat satellite at 62 degrees East (for connectivity to Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East) and on Intelsat 805 at 304.5 degrees East (for the Americas).
