MSS operator Globalstar has announced the full commercial availability of its mobile satellite phone service in North America. In the USA, Globalstar is targeting employees of industries in remote locations, such as utilities, oil and gas. Globalstar USA has set an international roaming base price of $1.79 a minute, on top of which the user faces international charges. Globalstar’s US charge structure includes three payment plans: Beyond Basic ($29.99 a month plus $1.69 per minute); Beyond 100 ($169.99 per month, 100 minutes airtime plus $1.49 per additional minute and Beyond 250 ($369.99 per month, 250 minutes, $1.39 per minute).
