Complaints about a programme on Flextech-owned Bravo were upheld by the ITC this week. Real TV broadcast in October showed a story where a 13 year-old boy died in a parachute accident. The ITC said including this material did not qualify under the “exceptional justification” rule despite the boy’s parents having given permission. Another Flextech channel, Living, was censured for breaching the ITC’s code covering on-screen promotional references to a magazine. The show (Fashion Emergency) featured the US version of Men’s Health, and the ITC ruled that there was no difference in the masthead’s of the US and UK versions of the magazine. The ruling said “the ITC made it clear to Living that it expects more stringent checks to be undertaken regarding references to commercial products in all programmes.”
